News

This release adds lean, deterministic ARC-style lifecycle behavior to the scripting engine. It cuts down your per-fragment script size dramatically while enabling automatic DOM removal of hydrated scripts and data when no longer necessary.

In addition to the above we've included several runtime quality-of-life upgrades.

Added

Improved

  • qol: Atomic style observer now detects deeply nested style shards via recursive traversal.
  • qol: Bun and Node runtimes now fallback to null if version detection fails, aligning runtime.version behavior across runtimes.
  • qol: Workerd runtime now returns a 500 response if no incoming handler is registered, instead of returning undefined.

What is ARC?

ARC (Automatic Reference Counting) is a memory management technique where objects are retained or released based on how many references exist to them.

In TriFrost, it ensures that each DOM-bound function or data payload is automatically cleaned up when no longer used, without relying on a garbage collector.

It’s deterministic, lightweight, and perfect for fragment-based hydration.

TriFrost continues to push toward a leaner, smarter edge, onward to 1.0.

As always, stay frosty ❄️
